Litecoin Cash

Litecoin Cash (LCC) is a fork of Litecoin itself utilizing an SHA-256 hashing algorithm. While the initial goal was to focus on bringing back SHA-256, along the way we created "Hive Mining," an agent-based system allowing everyday users to participate in securing and hashing the network to earn real LCC rewards. Be sure to visit our website @ https://litecoinca.sh for more information and join us on DISCORD to speak with the team and get free LCC rains just for chatting and being active!

How about a lazier approach to distributed DNS?

One thing that's bothered me about namecoin is that it still allows speculation in domain names with early adopters getting more coins. Now, maybe that's just sour grapes, but domain name squatting really sucks in my opinion. In my view, a better approach to distributing scarce domain names is by having someone prove that they want it more. As with bitcoin, such proof can come in the form of expended computational effort.
Presuming that mining is not needed to distribute DNS records so long as most nodes are honest (and, bear in mind that with the existing primary DNS system changes can take a while to propogate through the system), then it seems that this appoach can be very easy: just sign the IP addresses with a bitcoin address which is also your domain name.
  1. But aren't bitcoin addresses 33-34 characters long? Yes they are. But you only need the prefix unless there's a conflict. Signing with 1FREEgFM1a61D7mmXEqWEjpfnMzxcSeYs4 allows you to use 1free.bit
  2. Don't all main network addresses start with 1? Yes. It's not hard to make a system smart enough to make that optional in the lookup. Signing with 1FREEgFM1a61D7mmXEqWEjpfnMzxcSeYs4 allows you to use 1free.bit or free.bit
  3. But bitcoin addresses don't have all the characters? So what? Just convert the missing characters to their alternatives before lookup. Things like hyphens can be automatically removed. Signing with 111ama... allows you to use llama.bit, signing with 1cokeo... allows you to use coke-0.bit
Given:
{ "payload":{"ips":["216.14.202.114","216.14.202.117"]}, "signature": "HP/jq//r4zF6XmYrJMJfQuj/nob8HRCyc6Ws4FK/EMLbjUfQqyY17vZTZwa3BOokBzbmNTnz8fEacUWrykwFalA=" }
You can verify the signature for the payload at http://brainwallet.org/#verify
free.bit, 1free.bit, 1fr.bit, fr.bit, etc. would all resolve to the same address. If one primary address is needed, that could be included in the payload.
Since there is effort involved in finding a user-friendly bitcoin address prefix, those who want an address more will spend the effort.
What about conflicts?
There are two possibilities which make sense to me:
  1. Either the person with the lower address wins always (1FREE1... beats 1FREE2... as regards free.bit though one could always go to free2.bit) OR
  2. Once you get a name you have it for a certain amount of time, but you'd have to disallow multiple registries from the same address (e.g. 1FREE... couldn't register free.bit, fre.bit, fr.bit and f.bit).
Number 2 presents an additional issue with determining when something was registered and there's not really a cost for lying like there is when miners chain blocks. Thus I'm leaning toward the first option even though it's more turbulent. Still, people could register something quick and then spend a lot of time finding a really hard version to beat those who might snatch it up.
The primary advantages of this proposal are:
  1. It doesn't involve mining or special distributions of domains - whoever wants it more spends more effort.
  2. There are already solutions for mining vanity names
  3. It's easy to code and to verify. The only hardish part is nodes comparing differing versions and merging without causing too much traffic.

BCH users are sending own money into BCH-SegWit addresses 😂 this is invalid and their money is mostly lost. So they will beg the Miner-Kings to return funds 😂. Also, karma is a BitCH (👩🐶) - all could be avoided if BitcoinCash would use custom address prefix instead of pretending to be the Bitcoin 🤤.

Bitcoin Core wants to change BTC address format for SegWit, going with a prefix of "BC" for "Bitcoin Core" instead of "BTC" for "Bitcoin". Do they not have any shame?

Can someone in this group do a simple explanation of wallets & what the prefixes mean? For example: this is one of my Bitcoin addresses-- 19KKcqaJvGFKHC8KJiaHr7m6n1w6E4TZT5 so how on my Nano S do I update to Sedwic... Or do I even need to? Some on this group are saying the Sedwic address is better?

PSA: Be careful when sending litecoin to an address starting with 3. Multi-sig address prefixes are the same on Bitcoin and Litecoin networks.

Bitcoin and litecoin share the same P2SH address prefix. This means that a valid Bitcoin address is also a valid Litecoin address (and the address validation in the client will not complain).
What this means is: If you want to send BTC to someone's P2SH address e.g. 38BKDNZbPcLogvVbcx2ekJ9E6Vv94DqDqw but instead use your litecoin client and send LTC instead to 38BKDNZbPcLogvVbcx2ekJ9E6Vv94DqDqw, the software will let you do this and not complain.
However, the recipient on the Bitcoin network will not get your money.
Another example: You are trading on an exchange which supports BTC/LTC/etc. You want to deposit LTC to trade, but copy the bitcoin "deposit address" instead of the litecoin one. As a result your software will let you send the money to the same address but on the litecoin network but without warning you (as one will expect).

How To Stake/Mine Coinevo

EVO Staking/Evo mining

Evo uses Proof of Stake consensus mechanism, which is different from Bitcoin's PoW (Proof of Work). Evo mining process in PoS system is called staking. The block producer will get 6.5EVO, as well as the transaction fees and gases as block reward. So the real reward is usually more than 6.5 evo in total.
Basic requirements for staking:
  1. Run a Coinevo fullnode, and keep online (Since Coinevo is using PoS, we don't need any mining machine, just PC or even Raspberry Pi can run a fullnode);
  2. Have some EVO in the wallet (fullnode)(Any amount of EVO can be used for staking, more EVO means higher possibility to stake).
If you have no EVO yet, please get some from market before you doing following staking settings.
Currently, Coinevo Core wallet is the only wallet that support Coinevo PoS staking. Note that other wallets like mobile wallet and Evo Electrum are not able to stake for the time being.
Two ways to stake:
Either way works in the same way for staking, so you can choose either method you like.

Method 1:Staking with evod (command line)

1. Run evod

Follow the guidance to run evod :
./evod -daemon
Staking is default on for evod, so no need for other options if you only want to stake.

2. Send some EVO to your wallet

First you can generate a new address with:
./evo-cli getnewaddress
This will generate a new address with Prefix '1'. You can send some EVO to this new generated address for staking. You can generate as many addresses as you like, and send arbitrary EVO as you like for staking.
Note:The coin should wait for 500 blocks before being able to stake, i.e. about 17 to 24 hours to MATURE..
After the EVO node syncing to the latest block, you can check current balance with ./evo-cli getbalance or get utxo list with./evo-cli listunspent
Please do following steps after your coin is mature.

3. Check staking info

Check current staking info with:
./evo-cli getstakinginfo
You might get the result like this:
{ "enabled": true, "staking": true, "errors": "", "currentblocktx": 0, "pooledtx": 0, "difficulty": 3693409.779133397, "search-interval": 1577, "weight": 309584575558555, "netstakeweight": 1948540143266404, "expectedtime": 805 }
enabled means if your wallet have enabled staking, it should be true by default. staking means if your wallet is currently staking (mining). weight stands for the amount of EVO that is staking right now, with unit 10^-8EVO, here in the example, we have 0.532EVO staking. expectedtime stands for the expected time that you will get a reward, the unit is second.

4. How to stake if the wallet is encrypted?

If your wallet is not encrypted, you can skip this section. However, for security, we recommand you encrypt your wallet.
Coinevo wallet can be encrypted with encryptwallet . However, staking will be stopped when it is encrypted. For example, ./evo-cli getstakinginfo for a encrypted wallet:
{ "enabled": true, "staking": false, "errors": "", "currentblocksize": 1000, "currentblocktx": 0, "pooledtx": 94, "difficulty": 5788429.670171153, "search-interval": 0, "weight": 53206430, "netstakeweight": 2438496688951881, "expectedtime": 0 }
See staking turns to false , which means wallet is not staking.
You can use walletpassphrase to unlock wallet for staking:
./evo-cli walletpassphrase "" 99999999 true
After unlocking, you can double check getstakinginfo , it should look the same with previous unlocked result, staking become true.

Method 2: Staking with evo-qt wallet (official PC wallet)

Current supported platform: Mac/Linux/Windows.

1. Open Evo qt wallet

Launch the wallet.

2. Send some EVO to your wallet

If you already have some EVO in your wallet, you might skip this step.
Note:The coin should wait for 500 blocks before being able to stake, i.e. about 17 to 24 hours to MATURE..

3. Check staking status

The flash sign at the bottom of wallet shows staking info :
Solid black flash means it is staking now. For more information, you can put your mouse on the flash, e.g.:
Hollow flash measn it is not staking
Possible reasons for not staking:
No flash sign means staking is disabled

About block reward

The block producer will get more than 6.5 EVO rewards, something to keep in mind:

How to disable staking?

Staking is by default enabled for Coinevo wallet. If you need to disable staking for some reason (for example exchanges are always recommanded to disable staking), you might following anyone of the 3 ways below:
1 Add -staking=false when running Coinevo node:
./evod -staking=false -daemon
For qt wallet, it is like:
./evo-qt -staking=false
2 Add config staking=false in evo.conf;
3 Encrypt wallet, since encrypted wallet will automatically stop staking.

A question about something in Antonopoulos' book

In his great book Mastering Bitcoin Andreas talks about Bitcoin addresses and how they are obtained from public keys, scripts, etc. But there is one aspect of it that doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Let's use the public key (call it K) case, where we want to derive BTC address from K. The process starts on p. 64 (2nd edition) with evaluating some hash of K. That hash is then prefixed with a version number and postfixed with a checksum. The result is then Base58-encoded.
Here is the problem: Andreas writes on p. 68: "The version prefix in Base58Check encoding is used to create easily distinguishable formats, which when encoded in in Base58 contain specific characters at the beginning [...]"
The implication (and the accompanying Figure 4-6) strongly imply that merely by manipulating the prefix (the version number bytes) the Base58 encoding will result in certain designated leading characters, like "1" for a public-key-based address or "3" for a script-based-address.
But this cannot be right, the version prefix simply does not offer that kind od control. (See an example below.) So what is really happening? My guess is the prefix like "1", "3", "xpub", etc., is simply added at the end by fiat [pun intended]. Is this what's happening?
An example: let's just assume for simplicity that the hash of some public key (20 bytes) PLUS the checksum (4 bytes) is simply 100...0 (i.e., 2192). Now add the version prefix denoting a public key hash: 0x00 in hexadecimal.
Now encode it in Base58: the highest power of 58 in the above number is 32 (assuming I did my math correctly), so the resulting encoding has 33 Base58 digits. Its leading digit is 23 (decimal), i.e., the character 'Q' in Base58.
So the leading character is 'Q', not '1'.
Last but not least (I should have said it in the beginning) a leading '1' popping out of the Base58 encoding would be weird because the character '1' in Base58 stands for zero. So it wouldn't be there to start with (no leading zeros).
OK, back to the studio.

Can I send send bitcoins to non-existent address "Jane I hate you" or some silly shit like that?

I would like to save some phrase in bitcoin blockchain. If so what are limitations on the length?

Implementing support for Gleec coin

I'm trying to make a custom Trezor implementation that supports Gleec coin (BTC clone).
I have done the following steps:
  1. Inside the trezor-firmware in "common/defs/bitcoin" I included the "gleecBtc.json" configuartion:
After building the firmware.bin file I found out via hex editor that it doesn't contain the configuration. Then I included a new configuration inside "core/src/apps/common/coininfo.py":
.... if not utils.BITCOIN_ONLY: if False: pass elif name == "GleecBTC": return CoinInfo( coin_name=name, coin_shortcut="GLEEC", decimals=8, address_type=35, address_type_p2sh=38, maxfee_kb=2000000, signed_message_header="GleecBTC Signed Message:\n", xpub_magic=0x0488b21e, xpub_magic_segwit_p2sh=0x049d7cb2, xpub_magic_segwit_native=0x04b24746, bech32_prefix="fg", cashaddr_prefix=None, slip44=460, segwit=True, fork_id=None, force_bip143=False, decred=False, negative_fee=False, curve_name='secp256k1', extra_data=False, timestamp=False, overwintered=False, confidential_assets=None, ) ....
Finally the gleec configuration was inside the firmware.bin file. And I flashed it on the hardware.
2) Inside the trezor-connect in "src/data/coins.json" I included:
.... { "address_type": 35, "address_type_p2sh": 38, "bech32_prefix": "fg", "blockbook": [ "https://blockbook.gleechain.com/" ], "blocktime_seconds": 300, "cashaddr_prefix": null, "coin_label": "GleecBTC", "coin_name": "GleecBTC", "coin_shortcut": "GLEEC", "consensus_branch_id": null, "curve_name": "secp256k1", "decimals": 8, "decred": false, "default_fee_b": { "Economy": 70, "High": 200, "Low": 10, "Normal": 140 }, "dust_limit": 546, "extra_data": false, "force_bip143": false, "fork_id": null, "hash_genesis_block": "000000000019d6689c085ae165831e934ff763ae46a2a6c172b3f1b60a8ce26f", "max_address_length": 34, "maxfee_kb": 2000000, "min_address_length": 27, "minfee_kb": 1000, "name": "GleecBTC", "segwit": true, "shortcut": "GLEEC", "signed_message_header": "GleecBTC Signed Message:\n", "slip44": 460, "support": { }, "timestamp": false, "xprv_magic": 76066276, "xpub_magic": 76067358, "xpub_magic_segwit_native": 78792518, "xpub_magic_segwit_p2sh": 77429938 }, ....
3) So after running:
await TrezorConnect.getAddress({ path: "m/44'/460'/0'/0/0", coin: 'GLEEC' });
I get the following error:
Invalid parameters: Coin not found.
I don't even see communication or data reaching the Trezor device after the call.
Do I need to add the coin inside other configuration file? Are configurations enough in order to support the coin or I need to implement some features?

Note that private keys for compressed and uncompressed bitcoin public keys use the same version byte. The reason for the compressed form starting with a different character is because a 0x01 byte is appended to the private key before base58 encoding.
